What are the similarities and differences between Agile coaching and consulting?

In its similar sense, both coach and consultant are highly skilled practitioners and are able to share best practices from its respective knowledge functions. Both roles work across all areas of the organisation from c-suite to team level and are well versed from topics like organisational transformation, change management to software development. 

Consulting is a problem-solving activity where priority lies in achieving a specific result or action to move towards a target state. Consultants are often responsible in helping organisations solve challenges through their topical or technical expertise.  

However, coaching is an interpersonal interaction between two parties where it has a focus on the development of an individual’s skills and competencies. Coaches focus on building people’s strengths and helping people to be their best. Coaching provides a perspective towards behavioural or mindset change thus enabling people to solve the challenge themselves.
